We would like to welcome back Matt and Kara Porter as our Children’s Ministry Directors. He currently works for ISU as the manager of their Outdoor Recreation Center. Kara is from Terre Haute and currently teaches at North Vermillion Elementary. Needless to say, they are passionate about our community and kids and are excited about joining the ministry team at Cayuga Christian.

Gene and Brenda RuarkBrenda Ruark, Worship Ministry/Media and husband, Gene Ruark – Since August 2014

Brenda and Gene reside in Parke County, Indiana. Prior to taking over the Worship Ministry, Brenda worked as a secretary at Cayuga Christian Church. Before being employed by CCC, she worked as a secretary at Turkey Run High School in Marshall, Indiana.
Brenda grew up in church and has always had a passion to point people towards our loving and gracious God. Worship Ministry was a perfect fit to be able to continue to do that in her “mature” years. As adults, Gene and Brenda have served God together as a team in many areas within the church body and remain open to all that God has planned for future ministry opportunities at Cayuga Christian Church.

Alongside the Ministry staff,  the Cayuga Christian Church is led by a team of Elders, Deacons, Deaconesses and Ministry Teams.

Elders:  Elders are men who are nominated by the church members and serve as the overseers of the ministry of the church body for a two-year term. The qualifications (traits) of an Elder are scripturally specified in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9.

Deacons:  Deacons are men who are also nominated by the church members and serve a two-year term. They serve specifically alongside the Elders on the church board and assist in discussing, evaluating, and making decisions for the ministry of the church. The qualifications (traits) of a Deacon are scripturally specified in 1 Timothy 3:1-13 and Titus 1:5-9.

Deaconess: The Deaconesses are women nominated by the church members to serve a two-year term.  Their primary role is to prepare communion for the weekly worship service, and special services scheduled (Maundy Thursday, Christmas Eve, etc …). They also serve on one of the Ministry Teams or are active in serving in another capacity.  (Romans 16:1)

Ministry Teams:  Much of the ministry endeavors of Cayuga Christian happen through the involvement of our Ministry Teams. Each team has a unique ministry focus and is made up of individuals who are committed to working together to improve the specified ministry of that team. Every church member is encouraged to participate at some level with a ministry team.
